Building Up also encompasses our desire to build relationships, build global partnerships, and build an awareness of the critical need for healthcare in Uganda."
Who is Building Up: PHW?
Building UP: Partnering in Health and Wholeness is a collection of motivated US partners working to raise funds and recruit supporters to improve health outcomes in rural Uganda. Born out of international friendships and hope for a better future, this team has made the dream of an accessible and sophisticated medical facility in Sayyi Uganda a reality.
History of Building Up: PHW
Building Up: PWH was born from a small group whose hearts were greatly moved by the urgent human need they witnessed during a 2018 trip to Uganda - meeting men, women and children living in and around Sayyi suffering from lack of healthcare. Only two of our inaugural members personally saw how the lack of medical care harmed the livelihood of so many, but when asked, fifteen people enthusiastically chose to join. All were driven knowing that the hospital we would build would transform lives and bring hope, healing and economic opportunities in this region of Uganda. Construction of the hospital began in 2021, and the hospital opened in February of 2023. Building Up has chosen to remain a nonprofit organization run completely by volunteers and each individual who has partnered with this mission has brought success to the organization. There is no judgment of what an individual is able to give, it is a team effort and we are made stronger by the variety of talents and resources that come together to meet our goals.
